Speech - Language Pathologist,

Feeding & Myofunctional Therapist

pronouns: she/they

Hello! My name is Cassandra Tamayo and I am a board-certified speech-language pathologist and licensed by the State of California. I completed my Master of Science (MS) degree at Loma Linda University with a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Prior to graduate school, I attended Pacific Union College and graduated with an Associate of Science (AS) in photography. Between my transition of getting my AS to my BS degree, I spent a year in Hong Kong teaching English at a secondary school; which solidified my joy and excitement working with children and adolescents. After Hong Kong, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Loma Linda University.

Throughout my career, I have worked with children and their families in various settings: private practice, homes, teletherapy, and in several local public and non-public schools. In each setting, I worked closely with my colleagues (occupational therapists, teachers, school psychologists, etc.) and parents to help our clients reach their full potential. As a private practitioner, my goal is to be a coach/support person who will help guide you and be in your/your child's corner as we navigate through your/their issues.

I am passionate about speech therapy and orofacial myofunctional therapy I also struggle with a tongue tie and TMJD (temporomandibular joint disorder) with monthly migraines which take me away from being present with my family; I am working on myself to live my best life.

As a parent, I understand the struggles, anxiety, and stress of having a child with speech sound difficulties, a lip tie, and a tongue tie (tethered oral tissues--TOTs). When they were an infant we struggled with breastfeeding and short feed times; as a toddler, we are learning about their preferences with food and textures. Additionally, now that they are blooming with newfound language skills, we are experiencing communication breakdowns because they struggle with pronouncing certain sounds and experience frustration while talking with us. We are working on feeding therapy towards a TOTs release.

In my free time, I spend it with my toddler and family; with my perceived free time, I enjoy crocheting, hand lettering, scuba diving, and all things Disney.
